Wild card Eala defeats Tsurenko in Madrid, notches first Top 50 win
Wild card Alexandra Eala of the Philippines came from a set down to defeat Lesia Tsurenko in the first round of the Mutua Madrid Open, her first WTA main-draw win since her debut at Cluj-Napoca 2021 and her first victory at WTA 1000 level. The result was also the 18-year-old's first career Top 50 victory.
